UHATO · Owner guide

Protect it. Activate it.
Get it back.

Step-by-step for Smart Tags and UHATO ACK. Finders only need a camera — no app. You use the website to activate, attach, and report lost.

1. Buy 2. Activate 3. Tag 4. Attach 5. Scan 6. Reunite
01

How UHATO works

QR identity — not a Bluetooth tracker
  1. Buy a Smart Tag pack from Shop (or use a tag you already have).
  2. Activate it in your account with the Digital ID.
  3. Tag it to a belonging (laptop, keys, bag). That name stays in your dashboard, not on the sticker.
  4. Attach the physical sticker to that item.
  5. If it goes missing, optionally tap Report Lost.
  6. A finder scans the QR (no app) and messages you. Your phone stays hidden unless you allow it.

The sticker shows UHATO, a QR, a print serial (like UH-000055), and a scan line. It never prints “laptop” or “keys”. Item names live under My Belongings after you tag them.

02

Buy a Smart Tag

Skip this if you already have a printed tag
  1. Open Shop and add a Smart Tag to the cart.
  2. Log in or register if needed.
  3. Checkout with name, phone, address, and a 6-digit pincode.
  4. Pay with Razorpay, COD, or UPI (whichever is enabled).
  5. After the order is fulfilled, Digital IDs land on your account. Invoices are in Orders.
03

Activate a Smart Tag

This is what connects the QR to you
  1. Create an account, verify OTP if asked, then log in.
  2. Go to Dashboard → My Smart TagsActivate Smart Tag (or the header Activate Tag button).
  3. Enter the Digital ID — the 10-character code on the pack / card. That is not the same as the print serial UH-000055 unless your pack says so.
  4. Optional: link a belonging now, or choose “Don’t link right now”.
  5. Tap Activate Tag. You should see success and status ACTIVATED.

A Digital ID works only once. “Already been activated” means it belongs to another account — contact support. Do not try other people’s codes.

You can also scan an unused QR with your camera. If you are logged in, the page can open Activate and fill the Digital ID.

04

Tag an item (belonging)

Name the thing in UHATO — never write it on the sticker

Option A — while activating

  1. On Activate Smart Tag, open Link to Belonging.
  2. Pick an existing unprotected belonging, or + Create new belonging.
  3. Enter a name (e.g. Office laptop) and a category (Laptop, Keys, Wallet, Luggage…).
  4. Activate — the tag and belonging are linked.

Option B — after activation

  1. Dashboard → My Belongings → add a belonging.
  2. Name + optional category.
  3. Assign Smart Tag → pick the Digital ID → Save.

Nickname and type (personal, pet, vehicle…) on the tag page are for your records and landing style. They are not printed on the sticker.

05

Stick the tag on the item

QR must stay fully visible
  1. Clean and dry the surface (phone, laptop lid, key fob, bag zip, helmet…).
  2. Peel, press firmly, do not cover the QR.
  3. Test with the phone camera. You should land on the UHATO page for that tag.

If you are logged in as the owner, you see the owner page. To preview what a stranger sees, open the scan link in a private window while logged out.

06

Privacy settings

Finders message you — they should not get your number by default
  1. My Smart Tags → open the tag.
  2. Privacy Controls — choose what a finder may see (including phone, if you allow it).
  3. Save. Default is private.
07

Report an item lost

Optional, but the scan page becomes much clearer

This does not track GPS. It tells the finder the item is missing.

  1. Log in → My Smart Tags → open that tag.
  2. Tap Report Lost. Status becomes LOST. The tag stays on (finders can still scan).

A scan then shows “This Smart Tag has been reported as lost” and a Report Found form. You get a notification. Private details stay hidden unless privacy allows them.

Without Report Lost, finders can still contact you on the normal scan page. Report Lost only makes the lost message obvious.

08

If someone finds your item

They never need the UHATO app
  1. They scan the QR with any camera.
  2. They send a message (or Report Found if you marked lost).
  3. You see it on the Dashboard, under Notifications, and by email if enabled.
  4. Arrange return using only what you choose to share. Do not put your home address on the public page.

Scan History shows when the QR was scanned.

09

After you get it back

Turn the lost page off
  1. Open the same tag.
  2. Tap Reactivate (it replaces Report Lost while status is lost).
  3. Public scan returns to the normal finder page.

Use Disable if you want the public page off without marking lost (e.g. item in storage).

10

Replace a damaged tag

Keep the belonging, swap the QR
  1. Get a new unused Smart Tag.
  2. On the old tag page, Replace Tag and enter the new Digital ID.
  3. The old tag is archived; the new one is activated. Put the new sticker on the item.
11

UHATO ACK

Proof it was received — not lost & found

Use ACK for a parcel, document, or handover. Do not put an ACK QR on a laptop you want returned if lost — that needs a Smart Tag.

  1. Dashboard → UHATO ACK → Create ACK.
  2. Sender, receiver, item type and name, optional courier / tracking.
  3. Save. Print or share the ACK QR (ID like UH-AK-YYYY-NNNNNN). No phone numbers inside the QR.
  4. Optional: mark In transit.
  5. Receiver scans (no login) and confirms received / damaged / wrong item.
  6. You get confirmation UH-RC-… and a timeline. Cancel if the send is aborted.
